Simon's 1st Day of School

Simon had his first day of kindergarten on Sept 1st. Anytime throughout the summer that school was brought up, he wouldn't say a word about it. Then on Micah's 1st day it was a challenge to get Simon dressed and out the door. So I wondered what the day would bring. Simon is not an early riser or moreso, he likes to lay around a bit before getting dressed. On that 1st day, I actually had to dress Simon half asleep at 8:30am but then it only allowed time for getting dressed, eating breakfast and out the door - no fights.

This picture makes Simon look not real happy about school but he actually had just fallen down as he was running to get his picture taken.

He was really happy as can be and wanted a picture alone, he told Micah & Calleigh.

He was so happy about finding his name on the shoe rack. Calleigh wanted to help too.

Simon in front of his locker, excitement was in the air.

Can you tell just how happy he was to be there?

Simon's teacher, Mr. Lorenz, was off all week due to the passing of his mother in law. Can you imagine having to be a substitute teacher for kindergarten for the first week?
On the first day when we picked Simon up, he was standing in the line crying. I noticed that he still had his indoor shoes on. Well, he didn't know what to do because his name wasn't on the shoe shelf in the classroom.
He obviously enjoyed it, even though he wouldn't tell us much that first day. (as I am typing this he is telling me every detail of his classroom) The next day he told me that he wished he could go to school everyday because "it is just so much fun". He has been counting down the sleeps over this long weekend until he can go to school again.
