St Patrick's Day

On the evening of the 16th I decided I would make green popcorn for St Patrick's Day. We made it to give to the teachers.

How exciting to watch popcorn pop!!

It didn't turn out as green as I would have liked it but it was delicious anyway. The recipe is from Skip To My Lou blog Click to see the blog & recipe.

Playdough

With the school break, we decided to make playdough. The boys actually have only played with it twice becasue they have been outside so much, which is a good thing. I am glad we are having such nice weather for the break.

Kool-Aid Playdough

2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
2 pkg Kool aid
2 T. cream of tartar
2 c. boiling water
3 T. oil
Combine 1st 4 ingredients. Add water & oil. Mix all together with a fork for 3 to 4 minutes. Mix with hands when cool enough. Knead dough, add flour if needed. Store in airtight container.
This was a really easy recipe to work with. (No wonder I liked the taste of playdough when I was a kid - 1/2 c. salt, that is alot, 1 batch, I forgot the salt & it worked just fine)

Jello Holiday Bowl

This a little late but I thought I'd post it anyway. You can use it next year.
Jello Holiday Bowl

4 c. boiling water, divided
1 lg pkg Lime jello
1 lg pkg cherry jello
2 c. cold water, divided
1 can(20 oz) pineapple chunks, drained
1 can(11 oz) mandarin orange segments, drained
1 pkg cream cheese
¼ c. sugar
1 tub cool whip

STIR 2 cups of the boiling water into each flavor of gelatin in separate bowls at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir 1 cup of the cold water into dissolved gelatin in each bowl. Refrigerate lime gelatin 1-1/2 hours or until thickened (spoon drawn through leaves definite impression). Let cherry gelatin stand at room temperature.

ADD pineapple to thickened lime gelatin; mix well. Pour into 4- to 5-quart glass serving bowl. Refrigerate 30 minutes or until set but not firm (gelatin should stick to finger when touched and should mound).

BEAT cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl with wire whisk or electric mixer until well blended. Stir in 2 cups of the whipped topping. Gently spoon over lime gelatin layer in bowl; refrigerate. Meanwhile, refrigerate cherry gelatin 1-1/2 hours or until thickened.

ADD oranges to cherry gelatin; gently spoon over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Serve topped with remaining whipped topping. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.

I hadn't done any Christmas baking this year. I usually have it all done by now.I found this recipe so we tried it. It is very good. I love anything with cream cheese.

Combine ingredients & let sit in the fridge for 8 hours.
